
Chatham is located in Jackson Parish in north central Louisiana. It is easily accessible from LA Hwy 4 and LA Hwy 34. Chatham is approximately twenty-five miles south of Interstate 20.
In the area there are many recreational opportunities for those who enjoy, boating, fishing, swimming and camping. In Chatham there is a fishing pier and picnic area on Chatham Lake. Caney Lake is located approximately 5 miles south of Chatham and provides some of the best fishing in the state. Jimmy Davis State Park, which is on Caney Lake, provides camping areas, cabins, group-camp facilities, picnic areas and a swimming area.
We have two main celebrations each year : The 4th of July Parade, usually held the Saturday before the weekend of the 4th and the Chatham Christmas Parade. Each event has fireworks after dark. We would love for you to come and join us!

The Town Hall houses the council room, the town offices, the police station and a sub-station for the Jackson Parish Sheriff's Office. Chatham's volunteer fire department is next door at 1703 Oak Street

Chatham is governed by the Lawrason Act, which calls for a town to have a Mayor and Town Council. Chatham's current mayor is Herman Lenard. The Town Council is an elected board that meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM.
